Keel Watson performs in a new community opera at the Royal Albert Hall
Keel Watson performs in Magna Carta - The Freedom Game, a new community opera commissioned by Surrey Arts as part of the 800th Anniversay of the signing of the Magna Carta. The libretto is written by Richard Stilgoe with music by Hannah Conway with direction by Karen Gillingham, Tim Murray conducts.
The opera tells the story of a Surrey family and their quest to win back freedoms which are taken away from them during a computer game, the opera explores the Magna Carta values such as democracy, liberty, citizenship and freedom.
The performance takes place on 12 May at the Royal Albert Hall.
Further performances of The Freedom Game (excerpts) will take place at Royal Holloway (14 June) and at Runnymede (15 June) in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, other member of the royal family and international dignitaries.
