Paula Almerares SOPRANO

Paula Almerares was born in Argentina and started her vocal studies in Buenos Aires with Mirtha Garbarini and went on to study in France under the tutelage of Janine Reiss. She made her début as Musetta in La bohème at the Teatro Argentino de La Plata and in 1993 performed Antonia in Les contes d'Hoffmann with Alfredo Kraus at the Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires. Her European début followed in 1995 at La Fenice in Orpheus ed Euridice.

Her repertoire includes Massenet's Manon, Cleopatra Giulio Cesare, Lucia Lucia di Lammermoor, Liù Turandot, Violetta La traviata, Juliette Roméo et Juliette, Leïla Les pêcheurs de perles, Musetta La bohème and rarely performed roles including Vaccai's Giulietta. Paula has performed extensively in South America, North America and Europe at venues including Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires, Teatro Argentino de La Plata, Metropolitan Opera, Washington Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, Teatro La Fenice, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari and Opéra de Marseille. She has worked with may acclaimed singers, conductors and directors in including Alfredo Kraus, Plácido Domingo, Juan Diego Flórez and Zubin Mehta.
