Paul Hudson BASS

Paul Hudson gained an Open Scholarship to the Royal College of Music, later continuing his studies at the London Opera Centre. His debut with the Royal Opera came in 1970 and as a Principal Bass he has since made over 600 appearances with the company. He gained particular acclaim for the roles of Swallow Peter Grimes, The King Taverner, Masetto Don Giovanni, Billy Jack Rabbit La fanciulla del West, Aide We come to the River and Gubetta Lucrezia Borgia.  

Performances with English National Opera include Philip Don Carlos, Seneca L'incoronazione di Poppea, Count Waldner Arabella and Raleigh Gloriana. Roles with Welsh National Opera include Colline  La bohème, The Athlete Lulu, Bottom Midsummer Night's Dream, Monk/Inquisitor Don Carlos, Sarastro Die Zauberflöte and Antonio Le nozze di Figaro. Other notable performances include the title role of Figaro Le nozze di Figaro and Daland Der fliegende Holländer with Opera North; Rocco Fidelio with English Touring Opera and The Commendatore Don Giovanni with Bath & Wessex Opera.
