New Artist - Richard Roberts
We are delighted to announce that tenor Richard Roberts has joined our roster for general management. Originally from Kansas, Richard completed a degree in Music at the University of Kansas and studied further at the Chautauqua School of Music, New York. Formerly a principal artist with both the Staatstheater Kassel, Germany, and the English National Opera, London, he has also appeared as Guest at the Theater Kiel, the Theater Krefeld and the Volkstheater Rostock. His many roles have included The Witch Hänsel und Gretel, Monostatos Die Zauberflöte, Truffaldino The Love for Three Oranges, Platon Karataev War and Peace, Rinuccio Gianni Schicchi, Edmondo Manon Lescaut, Pang Turandot, Alfred Die Fledermaus, Young Guard King Priam, David Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Walther Tannhäuser.
Highlights of recent seasons include The Gaoler / The Grand Inquisitor Il prigioniero for Theater Lübeck, Normanno Lucia di Lammermoor for Buxton Festival Opera, Nick The Girl of the Golden West and Balthasar Zorn The Mastersingers of Nuremberg for English National Opera.
Engagements in the current season include The Teacher Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk for English National Opera and a return to Opera North as Mime inDas Rheingold & Siegfried in Der Ring des Nibelungen.
