Looking forward to Welsh National Opera's 2019/20 season

With rehearsals for Welsh National Opera's only a few weeks away we are delighted to have several artists working on these productions.

Robyn Lyn Evans and Wyn Pencarreg appear in the third opera in David Pountney's Verdi trilogy, Les vêpres siciliennes, Robyn performs Daniéli and Mainfroid, whilst covering Henri, and Wyn performs Le Sire de Béthune.

Additionally, covers include Robyn as Il Duca and Claire Wild as Gilda in Rigoletto, with Wyn covering Escamillo in Carmen and Harašta in The Cunning Little Vixen.

Claire Wild makes her role debut as Mimì

Claire Wild makes her role debut as Mimì in OperaUpClose's Olivier Award-winning production of La bohème, directed by Robin Norton-Hale, with musical director Elspeth Wilkes. 

The tour opens on 5 March, at the Theatre Royal, Wakefield with further performances until June.

Claire Wild & Olivia Ray perform Vivaldi's Gloria in Plymouth

Claire Wild and Olivia Ray perform Vivaldi's Gloria with the University of Plymouth Choral Society and Sinfonia, conducted by Alice Dennis.

The performance on 8 December takes place at the Minster Church of St. Andrew, Plymouth.

Claire Wild makes her Garsington Opera debut in world premiere

Claire Wild makes her debut at Garsington Opera as Caridad in the world premiere of David Sawer's opera The Skating Rink, based on the novel by Chilean author Roberto Bolaño. The production is designed and directed by Stuart Laing, and conducted by Garry Walker. 

Performances of take place on 5, 8, 10, 14, 16 July.

Claire Wild performs in Khovanshchina for WNO

Claire Wild returns to Welsh National Opera as Emma in Mussorgsky's epic opera, Khovanshchina, which opens their 2017/18 season. The production is directed by David Pountney and conducted by Tomáš Hanus.

Performances take place from 23 September in Cardiff, Birmingham and Llandudno.

Claire Wild and Philip Smith perform in Così fan tutte

Claire Wild and Philip Smith perform Fiordiligi and Don Alfonso in a new promenade production of Così fan tutte

The re-imagined production, condensed into about an hour, has been re-orchestrated for violin, bassoon and accordian, by young composer/conductor Leo Geyer, with a new modern English libretto written by director Joanna Turner.

Perfomances take place from 27 July to 6 August in a local café or pub...

Claire Wild performs La voix humaine

Claire Wild performs Elle in La voix humaine for the Aldeburgh Festival this summer.

David Pountney's immersive production was first seen Wales Millennium Centre’s Festival of Voice in 2016 and received critical acclaim. It is revived by Mathilde Lopez, with piano accompliment by Christopher Glynn.

The performance takes place on 17 June at the manison owned by one of Elle's friends.

Claire Wild performs in Paws & Padlocks

Claire Wild performs Ayesha in Paws & Padlocks a newly commissioned children's opera by Kate Whitely, directed by Harry Fehr and conducted by Christopher Stark.

The production will involve 60 children recruited from local schools, Music Hubs, the Royal Greenwich and Blackheath Halls Youth Choir and elsewhere, with local adults and vocal students from Trinity Laban.

Performances take place at Blackheath Halls on 8 and 9 April.

Last minute jump in for Claire Wild!

Claire Wild jumps in at short notice as Lilli Vanessi/Katharine in Kiss Me, Kate for Welsh National Opera this evening at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton.

Claire last performed the role of Elle in WNO's site specific performance of La voix humiane.

Claire Wild performs La voix humaine

Claire Wild performs Elle in La voix humaine for the Wales Millennium Centre’s Festival of Voice. The new site specific production by Welsh National Opera is directed by David Pountney and takes place in an apartment in Penarth, which creates an intimate opera up-close experience.

Performances take place on 7, 8 & 9 June at Elle's apartment.

Claire Wild performs in Rossini's Petite Messe

Claire Wild joins Birmingham Bach Choir for Rossini's Petite messe solennelle at the CBSO centre on Saturday 21 November.

The performance is conducted by Paul Spicer and accompanied by Lindy Tennent-Borwn and James Longford.

Claire Wild makes her role debut as Mozart's Susanna

Claire Wild makes her role debut as Susanna in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro for Regents Opera. This follows her last Mozart appearance as Zerlina in Opera North's acclaimed production of Don Giovanni.

Performances, directed by Nick Heath take place through May and June.
