Gweneth Ann Rand performs in the US premiere of 4.48 Psychosis

Gweneth Ann Rand revives her pivotal role in the US premiere of Philip Venables award winning opera 4.48 Psychosis. The acclaimed Royal Opera production, directed by Ted Huffman, first seen at the Lyric Hammersmith in 2016 is conducted by William Cole.

Performances take place from 5 to 12 January at the Baruch Performing Arts Center, New York.

Gweneth Ann Rand returns to English National Opera

Following her success as Aida for English National Opera last season, Gweneth Ann Rand returns to the London Coliseum as Serena in their critically acclaimed new production of Porgy and Bess. The productionsi directed by James Robinson and conducted by John Wilson.

She will perform the role for performances on 27, 31 October and 10 November.

Keel Watson and Gweneth Ann Rand join ENO for their Celebratory Concert

Keel Watson performs in excerpts from Akhnaten and Peter Grimes, and Gweneth Ann Rand in an ENO Baylis project based on Aida. The concert, Opera for All, celebrates 50 years of opera at the London Coliseum, the home of English National Opera since 1968.

The performance is directed by Daniel Kramer.

Gweneth Ann Rand and Keel Watson perform in Toscatastrophe!

Gweneth Ann Rand and Keel Watson perform Tosca and Scarpia in Toscatastrophe!, as part of the Tête à Tête Opera Festival 2018. With a lousy orchestration by Timothy Burke and direction by the totally inept Bill Bankes-Jones, this is surely a performance you don't want to miss!

This free event takes place at Lewis Cubitt Square, London on 10 August.

Gweneth Ann Rand performs in 4.48 Psychosis

Gweneth Ann Rand returns to The Royal Opera for the first revival of Philip Venables award winning opera 4.48 Psychosis, inspired by Sarah Kane’s extraordinary play about her experience of depression. Ted Huffman returns to direct, with Richard Baker conducting.

Performances take place from 24 April to 4 May 2018 at the Lyric Hammersmith.

Gweneth Ann Rand makes her ENO debut as Aida

Gweneth Ann Rand makes her debut at English National Opera in the title role in Verdi's Aida. This new production is directed by Phelim McDermott and conducted by Keri-Lynn Wilson.

Performances take place at the London Coliseum on 29 November and 2 December.

Gweneth Ann Rand and Njabulo Madlala in Moscow

Gweneth Ann Rand and Njabulo Madlala perform scenes from Gershwin's Porgy & Bess  with the State Symphony Orchestra 'Novaya Rossiya' and State Academic Coral Cappella, conducted by Michael Chertock.

The performance takes place on 21 November at the Moscow International Performing Arts Center.

Gweneth Ann Rand performs at the Howard Assembly Room

Gweneth Ann Rand performs Messiaen's Harawi at Opera North's Howard Assembly Room in Leeds on 26 October, with long time collaborator, pianist, Simon Lepper.

Gweneth Ann is is widely noted as an exponent of the works of Messiaen and has performed them with the Gürzenich Orchester Köln, Tonhalle Orchester Zürich and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, at Wigmore Hall, the BBC Proms and at the Southbank Centre, in London, as part of the composer's centenary celebrations.

Grenfell Tower Benefit Concert

In the wake of the terrible fire at Grenfell Tower, Nazan Fikret, with support and generous assistance from Cadogan Hall, the Royal Opera House, Garsington Opera, Opera magazine, the International Opera Awards and leading arts professionals, has rallied fellow performers to organise a concert to raise funds for those affected.

The concert on at Cadogan Hall on 17 September, presented by Petroc Trelawny, will feature a sensational line-up of both established and up-and-coming artists. This is a one-off event and everyone involved has given their services for free.

All funds raised will be distributed equally between Rugby Portobello Trust (Charity No 1100143) and Grief Encounter (Charity No 1101277) which focus specifically on helping the affected families with rehabilitation and looking to the future.

Gweneth Ann Rand steps in at short notice for Beethoven Symphony No. 9 with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall on Saturday 6 May.

The concert with the London Philharmonic Choir and soloists, Justina Gringyte, David Butt Philip and Jihoon Kim is conducted by Kazushi Ono.

Gweneth Ann Rand and Keel Watson perform Porgy & Bess

Gweneth Ann Rand and Keel Watson perform excerpts of Gershwin's Porgy & Bess with the Gjøvik Symfoniorkester in Norway. The concert on 18 March, conducted by Geir Tore Larsen, will take place at the Gjøvik Olympic Mountain Hall.

Gwen and Keel are joined by American tenor, Joseph Guyton, for this concert performance.

Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín

The UK premiere of Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín takes place at Durham Cathedral on Saturday 28 January. The concert tells the story of the courageous Jewish prisoners in the Theresienstadt Concentration Camp (Terezín) during World War II, who performed the Verdi Requiem while experiencing the depths of human degradation.

Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín is a concert-drama that combines the magnificent music of Verdi with video testimony from survivors of the original Terezín chorus and footage from the 1944 Nazi propaganda film about Theresienstadt.

The concert will feature Gweneth Ann Rand, Alison Kettlewell, Philip Sheffield and Keel Watson, with the Durham Choral Society Orchestra, Durham University Orchestral Society, Durham Choral Society and University Chamber Choir, conducted by Murry Sidlin.

Gweneth Ann Rand performs Messiaen's song cycle Harawi with pianist Simon Lepper, as part of the University of Sheffield SongMakers concert series on Saturday 12 November. 

Widely noted as an exponent of Messiaen's song cycles, Gweneth-Ann's interpretations of his music are widely acclaimed. She has performed them with international orchestras (Gürzenich Orchester Köln, Tonhalle Orchester Zürich and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra) and at venues including London's Wigmore Hall & Southbank Centre and at the BBC Proms.

Gweneth Ann Rand performs Gershwin on Tour

Gweneth Ann Rand performs in Simply Gershwin as part of a national tour for Raymond Gubbay. The concerts conducted by Gavin Sutherland include some of Gershiwn's best known music with excerpts from Porgy and Bess.

Gwen is joined by Njabulo Madlala for these performances.

The tour starts on 22 October in Leicester and concludes on 1 December in Northampton.

Gweneth-Ann Jeffers performs Aida for Opera Holland Park

Gweneth-Ann Jeffers performs Aida in London for the first time this summer for Opera Holland Park, in a production directed by Daniel Slater, conducted by Manlio Benzi.

Aida is one of Gweneth-Ann's signature roles, and one she has performed many times before, for companies including the Finnish National Opera, Theater Bremen, Oper Kiel, Oldenburgisches Staatstheater, Opera Poznań, and the Macedonian Opera.

Gweneth-Ann Jeffers performs Porgy & Bess with Sir Willard White

Gweneth-Ann Jeffers performs the Porgy & Bess Concert Suite with Sir Willard White, Bath Philharmonia and Bath Camerata at the Bath International Music Festival. The concert, conducted by Jason Thornton, takes place at The Forum in Bath, on Tuesday 26 May.

SSArtists at Opera Holland Park this summer

We are delighted to announce that we have two artists performing at Opera Holland Park this summer.

Gweneth-Ann Jeffers, an Opera Holland Park regular returns to perform the title role in Verdi's Aida, a role she has performed in Germany, Finland, Poland and Macedonia, but not yet in London.

Keel Watson returns as Il Re in Aida and Caterpillar in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, a role he created in 2013, “Keel Watson was a magnificent Caterpillar" (Opera Magazine). 

Flight opens on 6 June, Aida on 24 June and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland on 16 July, with additional performances at the Wilderness Festival in August.

Gweneth-Ann Jeffers performs with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales

Gweneth-Ann Jeffers performs Gershwin at the Royal Festival Hall

Gweneth-Ann Jeffers performs in Crazy for Gershwin at the Royal Festival Hall on Stuarday 28 March, in a concert bursting with Broadway glamour and toe-tapping tunes. 

The programme that includes well know Gershwin hits The Man I LoveSummertime and S'Wonderful is accompanied by Jonathan Scott on piano and the London Concert Orchestra, under the baton of Gavin Sutherland.
