A trio of artists perform in WNO's Roberto Devereux

Robyn Lyn Evans, Wyn Pencarreg and Philip Smith perform in Welsh National Opera's production of Roberto Devereux, directed by Alessandro Talevi and conducted by Carlo Rizzi and James Southall.

Robyn performs Lord Cecil, while understudying the title role, Wyn performs Sir Gualtiero Raleigh, and Philip makes his WNO debut as Nottingham's Confidant, while understudying Raleigh.

Performances take place from 28 February at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, before touring until 10 May.

Philip Smith performs Giorgio Germont in La traviata for Devon Opera, directed by Rachael Hewer and conducted by Jonathan Pease.

Performances take place at The Barnfield Theatre, Exeter on 22 November and The Great Hall, Dartington on 24 November.

Philip Smith performs Don Giovanni for Celebrate Voice

Philip Smith performs the title role in Don Giovanni for the Celebrate Voice Festival in Salisbury. The production is directed by Richard Studer and conducted by Phillip Thomas.

Performances take place at the Medieval Hall, Salisbury on 26, 28, 30 October, 2 November.

Philip Smith makes his debut at the Three Choirs Festival

Philip Smith makes his debut at the Three Choirs Festival in a perfrmance of Cecilia McDowall's Stabat Mater. The morning concert with the Three Chorirs Festival Youth Choir and the English Symphony Orchestra is conducted by Peter Nardone, and takes place at Hereford Cathedral on 4 August.

Anthony Flaum and Philip Smith perform in Madame Butterfly

Anthony Flaum and Philip Smith perform Pinkerton and Sharpless in Madame Butterfly for Iford Arts, the final opera production to be performed in their current home at Iford Manor. The new production is directed by Bruno Ravella and conducted by Thomas Blunt.

Anthony last performed at Iford as Rodolfo in La bohème and Philip as Figaro in The Barber of Seville, both in the 2017 season.

Performances of Madam Butterfly take place on 21, 24, 26, 28, 31 July, 2, 4, August.

Claire Wild and Philip Smith perform in Così fan tutte

Claire Wild and Philip Smith perform Fiordiligi and Don Alfonso in a new promenade production of Così fan tutte

The re-imagined production, condensed into about an hour, has been re-orchestrated for violin, bassoon and accordian, by young composer/conductor Leo Geyer, with a new modern English libretto written by director Joanna Turner.

Perfomances take place from 27 July to 6 August in a local café or pub...

Philip Smith performs in The Barber of Seville

Philip Smith performs the role of Figaro in The Barber of Seville for Iford Arts this summer. The new production is created by Charles Court Opera, directed by John Savournin and conducted by David Eaton.

Performances take place from 21 June to 1 July in the miniature Italianate cloister within The Harold Peto Gardens of Iford Manor.

Philip Smith is Singing for Stefano

Philip Smith will perform in a star studded gala concert that is being organised by the musical friends of New Zealand opera star Anna Leese to support husband Stefano Guidi, Anna and their baby Matteo in a time of great need.

Philip Smith performs Der Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte at the Opera di Firenze in a co-production with the Teatro la Fenice. The production is directed by Damiano Michieletto and conducted by Roland Böer.

Performances take place from 23 - 29 March.

Philip Smith performs Handel's Messiah with the Leeds Philharmonic Chorus, conducted by David Hill with the International Baroque Players.

The performance on 10 December takes place at Leeds Town Hall.

Philip Smith performs in world premiere in Montepulciano

Philip Smith performs in the world premiere of Icarus by David Blake and Keith Warner at the 41st Cantiere di Montepulciano.

Icarus is the third collaboration between David Blake and Keith Warner: an opera lasting 90 minutes without interval, for five principal singers and six Witnesses, who sing as commentators, crowd and chorus.

The production is directed by Michael Barry and conducted by Roland Böer with performances taking place 15 & 16 July 2016.

Philip Smith performs Sid in Albert Herring for Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (Opera di Firenze). The new production is directed by Alessandro Talevi and conducted by Jonathan Webb.

Philip previosuly appeared in Florence as Junius in The Rape of Lucretia.

Owen Gilhooly & Philip Smith perform in The Spectre's Bride

Owen Gilhooly and Philip Smith join Oxford Harmonic Choir for Antonín Dvořák's The Spectre's Bride. The performance takes place on 16 March at the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford, and is conducted by Robert Secret.

Philip Smith makes his debut for The Royal Opera

Philip Smith makes his debut for The Royal Opera in as Endymion / Charon in Luigi Rossi's Orpheus in collaboration with Shakespeare's Globe at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.

This new production, which follows the acclaimed production of L'Ormindo last season, is directed by Keith Warner with muscial director Christian Curnyn and the Orchestra of the Early Opera Company. 

The already sold out peformances run from 23 October to 15 October.

Philip Smith makes his role debut in Verdi's Falstaff

Philip Smith makes his role debut as Ford in Verdi's final opera and comic masterpiece, Falstaff, with Black Cat Opera, with whom he performed Don Giovanni last season and Escamillo in excerpts from Carmen with Andover Choral Society.

The performances of Falstaff come ahead of Philip's house debut as Endymion/Charon in Rossi's Orpheus for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in a new production directed by Keith Warner, conducted by Christian Currnyn.

Performances of Falstaff take place at the Camberly Theatre from 12 August, for further details visit the Black Cat Opera website.

Philip Smith to makes his debut for the Royal Opera

Philip Smith makes his debut with The Royal Opera during their 2015/16 season in a new production of Luigi Rossi's Orpheus to be performed in the unique candlelit space of the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare's Globe.

The new producton, performed in English, will be directed by Keith Warner and conducted by Christian Curnyn with the orchestra of the Early Opera Company.

This house debut follows a busy 2014/15 season where Philip made his debuts at the Polish National Opera (Graziano / The Merchant of Venice) and Teatro Petruzaelli di Bari (Papageno / Die Zauberflöte).
