Original Cast Recording of Ravi Shankar's Sukanya

Keel Watson and Njabulo Madlala perform King Sharyaati and Aswini Twin on the original cast recording of Ravi Shankar's Sukanya. It was recorded live by the BBC at the Royal Festival Hall in May 2017. 

The recording, on the LPO label, is released on 10 January.

Keel Watson and Njabulo Madlala feature in ENO's 2019/20 season

Keel Watson and Njabulo Madlala return to English National Opera for their 2019/20 season. Keel will perform Mars in Emma Rice's new production of Orpheus in the Underworld, Zuniga in Calixto Bieito's production of Carmen, and The Bonze in Anthony Minghella's acclaimed production of Madam Butterfly, where he is joined by Njabulo Madlala as Prince Yamadori.

Njabulo is currently preparing the role of Aeneas for ENO's production of Dido, a co-production with the Unicorn Theatre, with performances in May and June.

Keel Watson performs in ENO's acclaimed production of Akhnaten

Keel Watson returns to English National Opera next week as Aye in the first revival of Phelim McDermott's acclaimed production of Akhnaten, conducted by Karen Kamensek. 

Performances take place from 11 February until 7 March 2019.

Keel Watson and Gweneth Ann Rand join ENO for their Celebratory Concert

Keel Watson performs in excerpts from Akhnaten and Peter Grimes, and Gweneth Ann Rand in an ENO Baylis project based on Aida. The concert, Opera for All, celebrates 50 years of opera at the London Coliseum, the home of English National Opera since 1968.

The performance is directed by Daniel Kramer.

Keel Watson performs at the BBC Proms

Keel Watson performs at the BBC Proms as the Usher in Gilbert and Sullivan's Trial by Jury at the newly-restored Alexandra Palace Theatre. The semi-staged performance with the BBC Concert Orchestra and BBC Singers is conducted by Jane Glover, and directed by Jack Furness.

The performance on is sold but will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 at 3pm on 1 September and will be available afterwards to listen again on the BBC website.

Gweneth Ann Rand and Keel Watson perform in Toscatastrophe!

Gweneth Ann Rand and Keel Watson perform Tosca and Scarpia in Toscatastrophe!, as part of the Tête à Tête Opera Festival 2018. With a lousy orchestration by Timothy Burke and direction by the totally inept Bill Bankes-Jones, this is surely a performance you don't want to miss!

This free event takes place at Lewis Cubitt Square, London on 10 August.

Keel Watson returns to English National Opera, for the first time since 1999, as Dr Bartolo in Fiona Shaw's production of The Marriage of Figaro, conducted by Martin Brabbins and Matthew Kofi Waldren.

Keel Watson and Richard Roberts perform in Rimsky-Korsakov's Christmas Eve with the Chelsea Opera Group. Keel as Panas and Patsyuk and Richard, the Devil.

Grenfell Tower Benefit Concert

In the wake of the terrible fire at Grenfell Tower, Nazan Fikret, with support and generous assistance from Cadogan Hall, the Royal Opera House, Garsington Opera, Opera magazine, the International Opera Awards and leading arts professionals, has rallied fellow performers to organise a concert to raise funds for those affected.

The concert on at Cadogan Hall on 17 September, presented by Petroc Trelawny, will feature a sensational line-up of both established and up-and-coming artists. This is a one-off event and everyone involved has given their services for free.

All funds raised will be distributed equally between Rugby Portobello Trust (Charity No 1100143) and Grief Encounter (Charity No 1101277) which focus specifically on helping the affected families with rehabilitation and looking to the future.

Keel Watson performs in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Keel Watson returns to Opera Holland Park this summer to reprise the role of the Caterpillar in Will Todd's family opera Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The Caterpillar is a role that Keel created when the opera was first premiered in 2013.

Keel Watson and Njabulo Madlala in Sukanya for The Royal Opera

Keel Watson and Njabulo Madlala perform King Shaariyati and Aswini Twin in the world premiere of Ravi Shankar's opera, Sukanya.

The production is directed by Suba Das and conducted by David Murphy, with the BBC Singers, in a co-production between The Royal Opera, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Leicester Curve.

Gweneth Ann Rand and Keel Watson perform Porgy & Bess

Gweneth Ann Rand and Keel Watson perform excerpts of Gershwin's Porgy & Bess with the Gjøvik Symfoniorkester in Norway. The concert on 18 March, conducted by Geir Tore Larsen, will take place at the Gjøvik Olympic Mountain Hall.

Gwen and Keel are joined by American tenor, Joseph Guyton, for this concert performance.

Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín

The UK premiere of Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín takes place at Durham Cathedral on Saturday 28 January. The concert tells the story of the courageous Jewish prisoners in the Theresienstadt Concentration Camp (Terezín) during World War II, who performed the Verdi Requiem while experiencing the depths of human degradation.

Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín is a concert-drama that combines the magnificent music of Verdi with video testimony from survivors of the original Terezín chorus and footage from the 1944 Nazi propaganda film about Theresienstadt.

The concert will feature Gweneth Ann Rand, Alison Kettlewell, Philip Sheffield and Keel Watson, with the Durham Choral Society Orchestra, Durham University Orchestral Society, Durham Choral Society and University Chamber Choir, conducted by Murry Sidlin.

Keel Watson performs at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos

Keel Watson performs Zuniga in Carmen at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, in a productions directed by Calixto Bieito and conducted by Rort Macdonald.

Keel last performed at the TNSC in 2006 as Creonte/Mensageiro in Oedipus Rex.

Performances take place on 6, 18, 10, 12, 14 October.

Keel Watson performs in world premiere in Montepulciano

Keel Watson performs in the world premiere of Icarus by David Blake and Keith Warner at the 41st Cantiere di Montepulciano.

Icarus is the third collaboration between David Blake and Keith Warner: an opera lasting 90 minutes without interval, for five principal singers and six Witnesses, who sing as commentators, crowd and chorus.

The production is directed by Michael Barry and conducted by Roland Böer with performances taking place 15 & 16 July 2016.

Hello Sailor! Keel Watson joins Tantantara Productions for HMS Pinafore

Keel Watson joins Tantantara Productions for a UK tour of Gilbert & Sullivan's  comic operettas HMS Pinafore and Iolanthe. Keel performs Dick Deadeye and Private Willis in semi-staged performances conducted by Martin Handley. He is joined by G&S favourites including Frances McCafferty as Little Buttercup and the indomitable Fairy Queen.

Keel Watson makes his debut as Wagner's Dutchman

Keel Watson makes his role debut as Der Holländer in a immersive new production of Der fliegende Holländer for Fulham Opera. The production is conducted by Ben Woodward & Jonathan Finney, with a new reduced orchestration by Jonathan Finney and is directed by Daisy Evans.

Performances take place on selected evenings from 19 November to 5 December at St John's Church, Fulham.

Keel Watson performs in Porgy & Bess

Keel Watson performs in concert performance of Porgy & Bess (concert version) with the University of East Anglia Symphony Orchestra and Choir at St. Andrew's Hall, Norwich. Porgy is a role that Keel has performed many times in concert and has performed the role of Frazier in fully staged performances at the Opéra de Lyon and Edinburgh International Festival. 

Keel is joined by acclaimed soprano Mauren Braithwaite as Bess for this concert performance of Friday 13 November.
