New Recording Release for Ailish Tynan

Ailish Tynan features on Airs from another planet, a new recording of chamber music and song by Judih Weir, with the Hebrides Ensemble. On this recording Ailish performs Weir's song cycles Nuits d'Afrique and Really?

Nuits d’Afrique was conceived as a companion piece to Maurice Ravel’s Chansons madécasses, and was dedicated to Ailish when it was written in 2015, with the premiere at Wigmore Hall in 2017. Ailish also performed these two song cycles on a concert tour with the Hebrides Ensemble earlier this year.

The recording (DCD34228) on the Delphian Records label is released on 25 October.

Ailish Tynan and Olivia Ray to perform at Grange Park Opera in 2020

Ailish Tynan returns to Grange Park Opera next season, for the first time since 2009, in her role debut as Mimì in La bohème. In preparation for these performances, early next year, she will understudy the role for The Royal Opera.

A regular at Grange Park Opera, Olivia Ray returns as Anna Polikovskaya in the world premiere of Anthony Bolton's The Life & Death of Alexander Litvinenko.

Ailish Tynan joins the Royal Ballet for the World Premiere of Medusa

Ailish Tynan joins the the Royal Ballet for the world premiere of Medusa, a new ballet from choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Cherkaoui is the Artistic Director of Royal Ballet of Flanders and of his own company, Eastman, and is Associate Artist at Sadler’s Wells. Medusa is set to a mix of electronic music and songs by Purcell, sung by Ailish and countertenor Tim Mead, with the orchestra of the Royal Opera House.

Medusa is part of a triple bill featuring works also featuring Christopher Wheeldon's Within the Golden Hour and Crystal Pite's Flight Pattern.

Performances from 8 May, with a live cinema broadcast on 16 May.

Ailish Tynan performs in Handel's Semele with The English Concert

Ailish Tynan performs in Iris Handel's Semele with The English Concert on a European and US tour, conducted by Harry Bicket.

Ailish Tynan makes her debut with the Netherlands Philharmonic

Ailish Tynan makes her debut with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra as Una poenitentium in Mahler's Eighth Symphony and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. 

The performances on 23 and 24 February are a highlight of the orchestras 2018/19 season, and are conducted by their Chief Conductor, Marc Albrecht.

Home Sweet Home at Wigmore Hall

Ailish Tynan returns to Wigmore Hall for tthier Learning Gala Concert: Home Sweet Home ashe central celebration of this year’s Wigmore Hall Learning festival, Sense of Home. The programme is multi-themed and includes a selection of songs from Germany, the UK and the USA.

Ailish is joined for this concert,on Monday 18 February, by baritone Benjamin Appl and pianist Iain Burnside.

The Sense of Home Festival celebrates the diverse and multicultural melting pot that is London and the borough of Westminster, reflecting on Wigmore Hall as a place many call home and invites audiences to explore what ‘home’ means to them.

Celebrating January at Wigmore Hall

Ailish Tynan returns to Wigmore Hall for a programme of January red letter days - the birthdays of ten composers, five poets, and two great songs, and the deaths of two composers and nine poets. In this programme, devised by Graham Johnson, Ailish performs works by Britten, Wolf and Delibes and others.

Ailish is joined by mezzo-soprano Anna Huntley, baritone Benjamin Appl, bass William Thomas, pianist Graham Johnson, and actor Shalisha James-Davis.

The recital takes place on 24 January.

Ailish Tynan performs at Music for Galway's Midwinter Festival

Ailish Tynan performs at Music for Galway's Midwinter Festival - Swansong 'Intimations of Mortality'. She will appear in three concerts over the weekend with pianist Finghn Collins, clarinettist Michael Collins and the Contempo Quartet.

She will sings works written by composers towards the end of their lives, including Strauss Vier letzte lieder, Schubert Der Hirt auf dem Felsen, and Chausson Chanson Perpétuelle

The concerts take place at Town Hall Theatre in Galway from 18 to 20 January.

Ailish Tynan performs Viennese Galas with the Manchester Camerata and RSNO

Ailish Tynan performs a series of Viennese Galas to celebrate the New Year. She joins the Manchester Camerata for a concert on New Year's Day, conducted by Hollie Mathieson. The following week she travels further north for three concerts with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, conducted by Stephen Bell.

Ailish Tynan performs Schumann, Schubert and Spohr in Leeds

Ailish Tynan performs a programme of Schumann, Sphor and Schubert, including Die Hirt auf dem Felsen, in a recital as part of the Leeds International Concert Series. She is joined by pianist, Sam Haywood, and Clarinettist, Katherine Spencer.

The performance on 11 December takes place at The Venue, Leeds College of Music and will be recorded for deferred broadcast on BBC Radio 3 in January 2019.

Ailish Tynan performs Handel's Messiah with the Ulster Orchestra

Ailish Tynan performs Handel's Messiah this week with the Ulster Orchestra, conducted by Laurence Cummings.

Performances take place on 6 December at the Guildhall in Derry, with the Condetta Choir, and 7 and 8 December at the Waterfront in Belfast, with the Belfast Philharmonic Choir.

Ailish Tynan performs Britten's War Requiem in Dublin

Ailish Tynan makes her debut performance of Britten's War Requiem this week at the National Concert Hall in Dublin. The performance features the massed forces of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra, RTÉ Philharmonic Choir and Choristers of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and is conducted by David Brophy. 

The concert on 9 November will be broadcast live on RTÉ lyric fm.

Ailish Tynan performs Schumann, Schubert, Spohr and Brahms

Ailish Tynan makes her debut appearance at the Solent Music Festival on 22 September in a programme of Schumann, Sphor and Schubert, including Die Hirt auf dem Felsen. She is joined by pianist, Sam Haywood, and Clarinettist, Katherine Spencer.

On 23 September Ailish will perform Brahms Ein deutsches requiem in the final concert of the Hatfield House Chamber Music Festival, with Ben McAteer, the Faust Chamber Orchestra and Hertfordshire Chorus, conducted by Mark Austin.

Ailish Tynan performs at Lake District Summer Music

Ailish Tynan is delighted to be making two appearances at Lake District Summer Music this season. The first, is the opening concert of the festival with the Northern Chamber Orchestra where she will perform Mozart's Plasmator Deus and Exsultate Jubilate.

The second concert is with pianist Simon Lepper, for a programme including works by Brahms, Barber and Schubert, including Der Hirt auf dem Felsen.

Ailish Tynan performs for Belfast Music Society

Ailish Tynan is joined by long time collaborator, pianst Iain Burnside , in a recital for Belfast Music Society on 14 June at the Belfast Harbour Commissioner's Office.

The concert, previously scheduled for early this year, features works by Brahms, Fauré, Grieg and Debussy and is being recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

Ailish Tynan performs the Mozart Requiem at the Royal Festival Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Philharmonia Chorus, conducted by Itzhak Perlman.

Ailish Tynan performs at the Ludlow English Song Weekend

Ailish Tynan returns to the Ludlow English Song Weekend with Iain Burnside and violinist Michael Foyle for the opening evening concert of the 2018 festival on Friday 6 April.

The programme includes songs by Frank Bridge, Rebecca Clarke, Benjamin Britten, Herbert Hughes and Gerald Barry.

Ailish Tynan makes her recital debut in Stockholm

Ailish Tynan makes her Swedish recital debut at the Konserthuset Stockholm on Wednesday 7 March, with pianist Magnus Svensson.

Her programme includes works by Judith Weir, Judith Bingham, Aaron Copland, Samuel Barber and Herbert Hughes.

Following this, on 11 March, at the University of Sheffield, she will perform a recital with Simon Lepper - The Short Straw, a programme of Nursery rhymes, fairy tales and fables... for grown ups!

All the World's a Stage at Wigmore Hall

Ailish Tynan performs at Wigmore Hall on 23 February, in a programme which explores the different stages of life. She is joined by Anna Huntley, Ilker Arcayürek, Stephan Loges, and actor, Fehinti Balogun, accompanied by Graham Johnson.

The varied programme includes the world premiere of The Seven Ages of Man by the outstanding British composer Joseph Phibbs.

Ahead of the concert, on Tuesday 20 February, Ailish will perform live on BBC Radio 3's In Tune programme.

Ailish Tynan joins the Manchester Camerata for the Mozart Requiem with performances in Manchester and Sheffield, conducted by Gábor Takács-Nagy and Jean-Claude Picard respectively.
