Ailish Tynan returns to Wigmore Hall

Ailish Tynan returns to Wigmore Hall for the final time this season in a recital programme entitled Songs of Seduction. The programme includes works by Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Fauré and Wolf.

Pianist James Baillieu accompanies, with fellow singers Anna Huntley, Robin Tritschler and Benjamin Appl completing the vocal ensemble.

The recital takes place on Monday 18 July.

AIlish Tynan performs In Wales and Orkney

Ailish Tynan is joined by pianist Iain Burnside at Gregynog Festival for their Irish themed programme. Ailish's programme includes works by Warlock, Barber Bridge, Hughes an many more. She made her debut at Gregynog  in 2006 and is delighted to be retunring this year. The recital takes place at Gregynog House on 23 June.

Ailish then travels north to Orkney for the St Magnus International Festival where on 25 June she performs Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alexander Vedernikov. She then joins the Myrthen Ensemble on 26 June for a recital entiteld Songs to the Moon which includes works by Schumann and Brahms.

SongCycle 2016

Ailish Tynan will join SongCycle 2016 to raise money for Help Musicians UK, with the aim of raising £25,000 for the charity.

Ailish was recruited into the event by Scottish tenor Nicky Spence and will cycle from Oxford to London, the final 60 mile stretch of the 500 mile journey which crosses the country, starting in Glasgow.

Other participants include Mary Bevan, Louse Alder, Simon Lepper and several young rising stars and HMUK recipients. The full itinerary is below:

Mahler, Mozart and Stravinsky

Over the next week Ailish Tynan will perform with both the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra at the National Concert Hall, Dublin and the Ulster Orchestra at the Ulster Hall, Belfast.

For the performance with the RTÉ NSO on 6 May, Ailish will perform Mahler's Fourth Symphony, conducted by Alan Buribayev. Of her performance her 2013 performance with the Hallé Orchestra, Rohan Shotton for Bachtrack wrote 'Tynan found an unfailingly lovely tone which expressed a sense of wondrous joy'.

With the Ulster Orchestra on 13 May, Ailish will perform Mozart's Ah t’invola and No word from Tom… I go to him from Stravinsky's The Rakes Progress, the concert is conducted by Jac van Steen.

Irish Culture in Britain: A Centenary Celebration

Ailish Tynan performs in a Gala Concert at Wigmore Hall to honour those who died at Easter 1916, Irish and British, and all the soldiers who lost their lives in the Great War.

Ailish joins a line up of other prominent Irish artists including Dame Ann Murray, Tara Erraught, Robin Tritschler and Gavan Ring; pianists Finghin Collins and Jonathan Ware; clarinettist Michael Collins and harpist Lucy Wakeford.

The programme includes works by Schubert, Gerald Barry, Balfe, Britten as well as traditional Irish song.

The concert on Thursday 21 April will be broadcast live on both BBC Radio 3 and RTÉ lyric fm.

Fête galantes - melodies by Fauré, Debussy, Ravel and Hahn

Ailish Tynan performs a recital in the recently refurbished Great Gallery at the Wallace Collection on Friday 15 April. 

The programme will include settings of Paul Verlaine by Fauré, Debussy, Ravel and Hahn. The evening will also include a discussion between the Wallace Collection’s Director, Christoph Vogtherr and pianist Iain Burnside

Ailish Tynan performs Handel's Brockes Passion

Ailish Tynan performs Handel's rarely performed early work, the Brockes Passion, with the Hanover Band and Choir of King's College, Cambridge, conducted by Stephen Cleobury. 

There will be two concerts, the first of which takes place on 26 March in the Chapel at King's College and will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on Monday 28 March. The second performance will take place at Kings Place, London on 22 April.

Ailish Tynan performs Mahler Symphony No. 2

Ailish Tynan performs Mahler's Symphony No.2 'Resurection' at the Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Philharmonia Chorus, conducted by Vasily Petrenko. She is joined by internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Alice Coote.

Ailish Tynan joins the ICO for Death and the Maiden

Ailish Tynan joins the Irish Chamber Orchestra for an dramatic and beautiful programme which culminates in Schubert's orchestral work Death and the Maiden, conducted by Gábor Tákacs Nagy. Ailish's programme consists of:

Ailish Tynan performs Handel's Messiah and Viennese Galas

Ailish Tynan returns to Scotland for a series New Year concerts with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. After acclaimed performances with the Academy of Ancient Music in 2014, she performs Handel's Messiah, conducted by Matthew Halls, and a series of Viennese Gala concerts across Scotland from Langholm in the south to Inverness in the North, conducted by RSNO Associate Conductor Jean-Claude Picard.

Ailish Tynan's Scandinavian Christmas

Ailish Tynan returns to Irlenad this Christmas for two concerts with the Irish Chamber Orchestra with whom she has a close association. The concerts A Scandinavian Christmas includes a selection of Love Songs by Grieg, a Swedish Christmas Carols Koppangen and Sankta Lucia. The concerts are conductd by the orchestra's director Katherine Hunka.

The concerts take place at St Mary's Cathedral, Limerick and St Paul's Church, Mullingar on 17 & 18 December.

Final CD release of the year for Ailish Tynan

Ailish Tynan's long awaited recording of Schubert Lieder with Iain Burnside is released by Delphian Records this week.

The recording, Nacht und Träume, is an assembled collection many of Schubert's most well know compositions and includes Gretchen am SpinnradeDie junge Nonne, Die Forelle and the final track, Nacht und Träume.

Ailish described this disc as being her 'life's dream' to record.

Ailish Tynan's - Sound Dash

Ailish Tynan recently took part in a Sound Dash for Sinfini Music at HMV in Oxford Street. She had 10 minutes to choose six classical CDs of her choice and then explain why she chose them! 

Ailish's selection included - Matthias Goerne, Renée Fleming, Joyce DiDonato, Kathleen Ferrier, Benjamin Britten AND surprisingly, her very own recording of Fauré Mélodies as a Christmas gift for her mother!

Jeni & Ailish Face the Music

We are delighted to have, not one, but two artists recently featured in The Guardian's online column Facing the Music, where Classical performers talk about the music in their lives, through a series of questions.

She cut her teeth on Jerome Kern, Rodgers and Hammerstein and Showaddywaddy, and, a former cornet player, she fancies learning the drums. The singer Jeni Bern shares her musical loves on and off the stage.

From travelling back in time to party with Mozart to a love for Bono, Kate Bush and Schubert, soprano Ailish Tynan shares her musical inspirations.

Both are in good company as other musicians recently featured include Anna Netrebko, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Erwin Schrott and Dame Evelyn Glennie!

Ailish Tynan - Tresanton and Temple

Ailish Tynan makes her third appearance this weekend at Music at Tresanton in what is their tenth season. This year she performs Bach's CantataWeichet nur, betrubte Schatten in the final concert of this years programme.

Following Bach in Cornwall, Ailish will perform a recital for Temple Music at the Inner Temple Hall on 25 November, with Finghin Collins (piano) and Emma Johnson (clarinet).

Ailish's programme includes Schubert Der Hirt auf dem Felsen and, Three songs from Sechs deutsche Lieder by Spohr and Mozart Ah, lo previdi.

Additionally, this recital is the inaugural performance with the Inner Temple Steinway piano.

Ailish Tynan performs at the RWCMD

Ailish Tynan performs a lunchtime recital at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama of Friday 25 September with pianist Iain Burnside.

The programme includes works bt Fauré, Bignham, Stanford, and ends with several wonderful songs from Eve-song by Jake Heggie. Following the recital Ailish and Iain will hold an afternoon masterclass.

Ailish Tynan performs at Cowbridge Music Festival

Ailish Tynan performs with Julian Bliss and Christopher Glynn at the 6th Cowbridge Music Festival. The programme includes works by Brahms, Spohr and Schubert and includes Der Hirt auf dem Felsen. The concert at Holy Cross Church comes ahead of the trio's recording titled The Shepherd on the Rock on the Signum label which is released in October.

Ailish Tynan on Song Competition Jury at Wigmore Hall

Ailish Tynan returns to the Wigmore Hall next week, not as a performer, but as a member of the jury at the Wigmore Hall/Kohn Foundation International Song Competition. As an accomplished recital performer and competition winner herself, Ailish brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the jury. 

The preliminary rounds of the competition take place on 6 & 7 September with the semi-finals on 8 September and the final on 10 September.
