Original Cast Recording of Ravi Shankar's Sukanya

Keel Watson and Njabulo Madlala perform King Sharyaati and Aswini Twin on the original cast recording of Ravi Shankar's Sukanya. It was recorded live by the BBC at the Royal Festival Hall in May 2017. 

The recording, on the LPO label, is released on 10 January.

Keel Watson and Njabulo Madlala feature in ENO's 2019/20 season

Keel Watson and Njabulo Madlala return to English National Opera for their 2019/20 season. Keel will perform Mars in Emma Rice's new production of Orpheus in the Underworld, Zuniga in Calixto Bieito's production of Carmen, and The Bonze in Anthony Minghella's acclaimed production of Madam Butterfly, where he is joined by Njabulo Madlala as Prince Yamadori.

Njabulo is currently preparing the role of Aeneas for ENO's production of Dido, a co-production with the Unicorn Theatre, with performances in May and June.

Njabulo Madlala makes his debut with the Dutch National Opera

Njabulo Madlala makes his debut with the Dutch National Opera as Jim in James Robinson's production of Porgy and Bess, a role he performed in this production earlier this season for English National Opera. These performances in Amsterdam are conducted by James Gaffigan.

Njabulo Madlala makes his debut with English National Opera

Njabulo Madlala makes his debut with English National Opera as Jim in their first staging of Porgy and Bess, in a lavish production directed by James Robinson, and conducted by John Wilson. 

Performances on: 11, 13, 17, 19, 24, 26, 27, 29, 31 October, 3, 8, 10, 14, 17 November

Later this season Njabulo returns to ENO as Aeneas in Dido, a co-production with the Unicorn Theatre.

Njabulo Madlala makes his debut with the Minnesota Orchestra

Njabulo Madlala makes his debut with the Minnesota Orchestra for a series of performances of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, conducted by Osmo Vänskä. 

Performances take place in in Minnesota (21 July) as well as Soweto (17 August) and Johannesburg (18 August).

Njabulo Madlala performs a recital in the South of France

Njabulo Madlala performs recital at the Festival International de Musique Classique d'Aigues-Mortes with pianist William Vann.

The programme includes works by Duparc, Schubert, Quilter, Strauss and Vaughan Williams, as well as a selection of traditional South African songs.

The concert takes place on 8 June at the Chapelle des Pénitents Gris in Aigues-Mortes.

Gweneth Ann Rand and Njabulo Madlala in Moscow

Gweneth Ann Rand and Njabulo Madlala perform scenes from Gershwin's Porgy & Bess  with the State Symphony Orchestra 'Novaya Rossiya' and State Academic Coral Cappella, conducted by Michael Chertock.

The performance takes place on 21 November at the Moscow International Performing Arts Center.

Njabulo Madlala and Wyn Pencarreg perform in Der Freischütz

Njabulo Madlala and Wyn Pencarreg perform Caspar and Kuno in Der Freischütz for Blackheath Halls Opera.

The new production, the first fully staged production in the UK since 1999, is directed by Oliver Platt and conducted by Nicholas Jenkins, in an English translation by David Pountney.

Performances take place at Blackheath Halls from 18 - 23 July 2017.

Njabulo Madlala performs a series of recitals  for John Whibley Holidays with Music in France with pianist, Tom Poster and the Aronowitz Ensemble.

The recital programmes include works by Schumann, Strauss, Barber, Vaughan Williams as well as traditional South African Songs.

Keel Watson and Njabulo Madlala in Sukanya for The Royal Opera

Keel Watson and Njabulo Madlala perform King Shaariyati and Aswini Twin in the world premiere of Ravi Shankar's opera, Sukanya.

The production is directed by Suba Das and conducted by David Murphy, with the BBC Singers, in a co-production between The Royal Opera, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Leicester Curve.

Njabulo Madlala performs in Simply Gershwin on Tour

Njabulo Madlala performs in Simply Gershwin as part of a national tour for Raymond Gubbay. The concerts conducted by Gavin Sutherland include some of Gershiwn's best known music with excerpts from Porgy and Bess

Njabulo is joined by Gweneth-Ann Rand for these performances.

The tour starts on 22 October in Leicester and concludes on 1 December in Northampton.

Njabulo Madlala makes his mainstage debut at the Royal Opera House

Njabulo Madlala makes his mainstage debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Clerk 7 and Coachman in Shostakovich's The Nose. The new production is directed by Barrie Kosky and conducted by Ingo Metzmacher, with designs by Klaus Grünberg and Buki Shiff.

Njabulo has previously appeared at the Royal Opera House Linbury Studio Theatre in How the Whale Became and Heart of Darkness.

Performances of The Nose take place on 20, 24, 27 October, 1, 4, 9 November 2017.
