Gweneth Ann Rand and Keel Watson perform Porgy & Bess

Gweneth Ann Rand and Keel Watson perform excerpts of Gershwin's Porgy & Bess with the Gjøvik Symfoniorkester in Norway. The concert on 18 March, conducted by Geir Tore Larsen, will take place at the Gjøvik Olympic Mountain Hall.

Gwen and Keel are joined by American tenor, Joseph Guyton, for this concert performance.

Richard Roberts performs Don Basilio in Le nozze di Figaro at the Teatru Manoel in Malta. The new production is directed by Jack Furness with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Philip Walsh.

Performances take place from 28 February to 6 March.

Linda Richardson performs in Madama Butterfly for WNO

Linda Richardson performs Cio-Cio-San in Welsh National Opera's production of Madam Butterfly. The original production is directed by Joachim Herz (revived by Sarah Crisp) and conducted by Lawrence Foster and Andrew Greenwood.

Performances take place from 17 February until the end of June in Cardiff, Dubai, Bristol, Llandudno and Birmingham.

Jeni Bern and Richard Roberts on BBC4

Jeni Bern and Richard Roberts can be seen on BBC4 and BBC iPlayer in Opera North's epic production of Der Ring des Nibelungen, conducted by Richard Farnes. The performances were filmed at Leeds Town Hall in 2016.

Das Rheingold will be broadcast on BBC4 on 12 February at 7pm, with Jeni and Richard as Woglinde and Mime respectively. Die Walküre, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung will all be available exclusively on BBC iPlayer with Jeni as Waldvogel and Woglinde, and Richard as Mime

New Artist - Katie Grosset

We are delighted to announce that Scottish mezzo-soprano Katie Grosset has joined our roster for general management. Katie trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Opera Studio Vlaanderen and at the National Opera Studio in London. She continues her vocal studies under the tutelage of Catherine Wyn-Rogers.

Highlights in recent seasons include Kate The Pirates of Penzance for the National Gilbert and Sullivan Company, Olga Eugene Onegin for Opera Bohemia, Roméo I Capuleti e i Montecchi for Pop Up Opera, Second Lady in The Magic Flute for St John Opera, Shoushan in Tchouhadjian’s Gariné at Grimeborn, and Mercédès Carmen for Nevill Holt Opera.

Engagements in the current season include mezzo soloist in The 8th Door, a new commission by Liam Paterson for Scottish Opera and Giovanna, Page and Maddelena (cover) in Regent Opera's tour of Verdi’s Rigoletto.

Ailish Tynan joins the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra next week at Lighthouse, Poole, for Vaughan Williams' A Sea Symphony.

Ailish will be joined by baritone Benedict Nelson for the concert on 8 February which is conducted by Davd Hill.

Owen Gilhooly performs Jenkins' The Armed Man

Owen Gilhooly performs Jenkins The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra at the National Concert Hall on 3 February.

He joins the Dun Laoghaire Choral Society, Cor Mhaigheo and mezzo-soprano Anne Marie Gibbons, for the concert conducted by David Brophy.

Susan Moore performs in new Amelia Earhart opera

Susan Moore joins English Touring Opera for their new commission by Russell Hepplewehite, Silver Electra, the first ever opera about American aviation pioneer, Amelia Earhart.

Performances take place at schools across the country, from 30 January until 16 June, with some public perfomances at Snape Maltings, Wilton's Music Hall and Curve, Leicester.

Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín

The UK premiere of Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín takes place at Durham Cathedral on Saturday 28 January. The concert tells the story of the courageous Jewish prisoners in the Theresienstadt Concentration Camp (Terezín) during World War II, who performed the Verdi Requiem while experiencing the depths of human degradation.

Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín is a concert-drama that combines the magnificent music of Verdi with video testimony from survivors of the original Terezín chorus and footage from the 1944 Nazi propaganda film about Theresienstadt.

The concert will feature Gweneth Ann Rand, Alison Kettlewell, Philip Sheffield and Keel Watson, with the Durham Choral Society Orchestra, Durham University Orchestral Society, Durham Choral Society and University Chamber Choir, conducted by Murry Sidlin.

Philip Sheffield jumps in with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra

Philip Sheffield joins the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, at short notice, as Simon in Birtwistle's The Last Supper.

The semi-staged performance at City Halls, Glasgow on 14 January will be conducted by Martyn Brabbins and directed by Victoria Newlyn.

Ailish Tynan celebrates the New Year

Ailish Tynan performs a series of Viennese New Year Concerts with the Manchester Camerata at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester (1), Forum Theatre, Malvern (6) and Bridlington Spa (8).

The concerts are conducted by Gábor Takács-Nagy and Jean-Claude Picard with a programme of New Year favourites by Johan Strauss, Stolz, Heuberger and Lehár.
