New Artist - Tichina Vaughn

We are delighted that American mezzo-soprano Tichina Vaughn has joined our artist roster with exclusive representation in the UK and Eire. Ms. Vaughn is celebrated for her luxuriously rich voice as well as her electrifying stagecraft. She began her career as a member of the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Development Program and made her European debut as Mistress Quickly in Falstaff at the Oper Stuttgart. 

Highlights in recent seasons include First Maid Elektra at the Metropolitan Opera; Begonia Der Junge Lord at the Staatstheater Hannover; Filipyevna Eugene Onegin at the Spoleto Festival; and Maria Porgy and Bess  at the Teatro alla Scala. She also performed many roles at the Semperoper Dresden including Klytämnestra Elektra, Die Knuperhexe Hänsel und Gretel, Herodias Salome, Mother Il prigioniero and Brigitta Die tote Stadt, where until the recently she was a principal artist.

In the current season she debuts with English National Opera and Dutch National Opera as Maria in Porgy and Bess, also performing in Caruso a Cuba for the Dutch National Opera, she returns to the Metropolitan Opera as Mère Jeanne Dialogues des Carmélites, and reprises the role of Begonia Der Junge Lord at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz.

Celebrating January at Wigmore Hall

Ailish Tynan returns to Wigmore Hall for a programme of January red letter days - the birthdays of ten composers, five poets, and two great songs, and the deaths of two composers and nine poets. In this programme, devised by Graham Johnson, Ailish performs works by Britten, Wolf and Delibes and others.

Ailish is joined by mezzo-soprano Anna Huntley, baritone Benjamin Appl, bass William Thomas, pianist Graham Johnson, and actor Shalisha James-Davis.

The recital takes place on 24 January.

Jeni Bern performs in the world premiere of Anthropecene

Jeni Bern makes a long awaited return to Scottish Opera, as Professor Prentice in the world premiere of Anthropecene by Stuart MacRae. The production is directed by Matthew Richardson and conducted by Stuart Stratford. 

Performances take place from 24 January in Glasgow, with further performances in Edinburgh and London, at the Hackney Empire.

Jeni returns to Scottish Opera later this season as First Lady in Sir Thomas Allen's production of The Magic Flute.

Ailish Tynan performs at Music for Galway's Midwinter Festival

Ailish Tynan performs at Music for Galway's Midwinter Festival - Swansong 'Intimations of Mortality'. She will appear in three concerts over the weekend with pianist Finghn Collins, clarinettist Michael Collins and the Contempo Quartet.

She will sings works written by composers towards the end of their lives, including Strauss Vier letzte lieder, Schubert Der Hirt auf dem Felsen, and Chausson Chanson Perpétuelle

The concerts take place at Town Hall Theatre in Galway from 18 to 20 January.

Njabulo Madlala makes his debut with the Dutch National Opera

Njabulo Madlala makes his debut with the Dutch National Opera as Jim in James Robinson's production of Porgy and Bess, a role he performed in this production earlier this season for English National Opera. These performances in Amsterdam are conducted by James Gaffigan.

Harry Nicoll perfoms in The Queen of Spades for The Royal Opera

Harry Nicoll returns to The Royal Opera in their winter season as the Major-Domo in Stefan Herheim's stunning new production of The Queen of Spades, conducted by Sir Antonio Pappano.

Performances on: 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 28 January, 1 February

Later this season Harry returns to The Royal Opera as Missail in the first revival of Richard Jones' production of Boris Godunov.

Gweneth Ann Rand performs in the US premiere of 4.48 Psychosis

Gweneth Ann Rand revives her pivotal role in the US premiere of Philip Venables award winning opera 4.48 Psychosis. The acclaimed Royal Opera production, directed by Ted Huffman, first seen at the Lyric Hammersmith in 2016 is conducted by William Cole.

Performances take place from 5 to 12 January at the Baruch Performing Arts Center, New York.

Ailish Tynan performs Viennese Galas with the Manchester Camerata and RSNO

Ailish Tynan performs a series of Viennese Galas to celebrate the New Year. She joins the Manchester Camerata for a concert on New Year's Day, conducted by Hollie Mathieson. The following week she travels further north for three concerts with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, conducted by Stephen Bell.

Robyn Lyn Evan performs at the Last Night of the Christmas Proms

Robyn Lyn Evans performs at the Last Night of the Christmas Proms for Raymond Gubbay at Symphony Hall, Birmingham, on 27 December. The programme includes popular arias and duets including O soave fanciulla and Nessun Dorma, as well as well known orchestral pieces.

Ailish Tynan performs Schumann, Schubert and Spohr in Leeds

Ailish Tynan performs a programme of Schumann, Sphor and Schubert, including Die Hirt auf dem Felsen, in a recital as part of the Leeds International Concert Series. She is joined by pianist, Sam Haywood, and Clarinettist, Katherine Spencer.

The performance on 11 December takes place at The Venue, Leeds College of Music and will be recorded for deferred broadcast on BBC Radio 3 in January 2019.

Linda Richardson perfoms Suor Angelica at the RNCM

Linda Richardson performs the title role in Suor Angelica for the Royal Northern College of Music, where she is a School of Vocal Studies and Opera, Artist in Residence. Linda is peforming the title role as part of an initiative to allow the students to perform side-by-side with established and experienced performers.

Philip Sheffield makes his debut at the Oper Köln

Philip Sheffield makes his debut with the Oper Köln as Rev. Horace Adams in a new production of Peter Grimes, directed by Frederic Wake-Walker, and conducted by Nicholas Collon.

The premiere takes place on 25 November, with futher performances on 28, 30 November, 2, 6, 8 December.

This is Philip's third house debut and second new production of Peter Grimes this year!
