Claire Wild makes her Garsington Opera debut in world premiere

Claire Wild makes her debut at Garsington Opera as Caridad in the world premiere of David Sawer's opera The Skating Rink, based on the novel by Chilean author Roberto Bolaño. The production is designed and directed by Stuart Laing, and conducted by Garry Walker. 

Performances of take place on 5, 8, 10, 14, 16 July.

Philip Sheffield makes his debut at the Teatro la Fenice

Philip Sheffield makes his debut at the Teatro La Fenice as Edward IV in Giorgio Battistelli's Richard III. The production originates from Opera Vlaanderen where Philip created the role in 2005 and was subsequently performed in Strasbourg. Robert Carsen returns to direct and Tito Ceccherini conducts.

Next season Philip makes his debut at the Opera Koln as Rev. Adams in Peter Grimes.

Performances take place on 29 June, 1, 3, 5, 7 July. The performance on 3 July will be broadcast live on World Concert Hall

Nazan Fikret to perform The Queen of the Night for Garsington Opera

We are delighted that Nazan Fikret will perform The Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte for Garsington Opera. Nazan made her debut at Garsington in 2012 as an Alvarez Young Artist as Ninetta in La Périchole.

Nazan performs the role on 22 June and for a schools performance on 18 July.

Anthony Flaum and Olivia Ray perform in Roméo et Juliette

Anthony Flaum and Olivia Ray perform Tybalt and Gertrude in Roméo et Juliette for Grange Park Opera at the Theatre in the Woods. The new production is directed by Patrick Mason and conducted by Stephen Barlow.

Anthony last performed for Grange Park Opera as Motel in their 2015 production of Fiddler on the Roof, and Olivia in 2014, as Flora in La traviata.

Performances of Roméo et Juliette take place on 23, 26 June, 1, 4, 6 July.

Ailish Tynan performs for Belfast Music Society

Ailish Tynan is joined by long time collaborator, pianst Iain Burnside , in a recital for Belfast Music Society on 14 June at the Belfast Harbour Commissioner's Office.

The concert, previously scheduled for early this year, features works by Brahms, Fauré, Grieg and Debussy and is being recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

Wyn Pencarreg performs in the first revival of Richard Jones' La bohème

Wyn Pencarreg performs Alcindoro in the first revival of Richard Jones' production of La bohème at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. The production, first seen last autumn is conducted by Nicola Luisotti.

Performances take place from 16 June until 20 July.

Njabulo Madlala performs a recital in the South of France

Njabulo Madlala performs recital at the Festival International de Musique Classique d'Aigues-Mortes with pianist William Vann.

The programme includes works by Duparc, Schubert, Quilter, Strauss and Vaughan Williams, as well as a selection of traditional South African songs.

The concert takes place on 8 June at the Chapelle des Pénitents Gris in Aigues-Mortes.

Claire Watkins performs in Leonard Bernstein's Candide!

Claire Watkins performs Paquette in a new production of Candide for Opera della Luna and Iford Arts, directed by Jeff Clarke and conducted by Oliver Gooch.

Performances take place at Iford on 26, 29, 39 May and 1, 2, 5 June, with further perfomances at the Cheltenham Festival and Roxburgh Hall on 12 and 15 July.

Robyn Lyn Evans performs with the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera

Robyn Lyn Evans performs Summer Opera Classics with the Orchestra and Men's Chorus of Welsh National Opera, conducted by James Southall and Andrew Greenwood.

Performances take place at The Hafren (18 May), Theatr Clwyd (26 June), Pontio Bangor (28 June) and the Great Hall, Swansea (1 July).

Llio Evans and Robyn Lyn Evans perform new arias for Music Theatre Wales

Llio Evans and Robyn Lyn Evans perform in the Make an Aria public masterclass for Music Theatre Wales, on 11 May at te Unversity of Bangor.

Make an Aria is part of Music Theatre Wales’ artist development programme, which introduces composers and writers to the process of writing opera by inviting them to write a single aria. The arias are performed, with insights and feedback given to the composers.

Ailish Tynan performs the Mozart Requiem at the Royal Festival Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Philharmonia Chorus, conducted by Itzhak Perlman.

The concert takes place on Sunday 6 May.

Alison Kettlewell makes her debut with Scottish Opera

Alison Kettlewell makes her Scottish Opera debut as Madame Larina in their new production of Eugene Onegin. The production, that also features George the Horse, is directed by Oliver Mears and conducted by Stuart Stratford.

Performances take place from 27 April to 5 May, in Glasgow, before touring to Aberdeen, Inverness, Edinburgh and Belfast.

Anthony Flaum performs in new commision at Clapham Omnibus

Anthony Flaum performs Theseus in Edward Nesbit's new commison The Grief of Antigone, based on Sophocles’ Oedipus at Colonus. The production, directed by Jack Furness, is part of a double bill with Janaček’s The Diary of One Who Disappeared.

Performances take place at Clapham Omnibus on 26 and 27 April.

Gweneth Ann Rand performs in 4.48 Psychosis

Gweneth Ann Rand returns to The Royal Opera for the first revival of Philip Venables award winning opera 4.48 Psychosis, inspired by Sarah Kane’s extraordinary play about her experience of depression. Ted Huffman returns to direct, with Richard Baker conducting.

Performances take place from 24 April to 4 May 2018 at the Lyric Hammersmith.

New Artist - Camilla Roberts

We are delighted to announce that soprano Camilla Roberts has joined our roster for general management. Born in Wrexham, North Wales, Camilla studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the National Opera Studio sponsored by Welsh National Opera, with whom she subsequently she became an associate artist. In 2005 she represented Wales at BBC Cardiff Singer of the World. 

Recent highlights include Santuzza Cavalleria rusticana and First Lady The Magic Flute for Welsh National Opera, Donna Anna Don Giovanni and Andromache King Priam for English Touring Opera. She has also recently understudied Meni The Exterminating Angel (The Royal Opera) and Isolde La Vin herbé (Welsh National Opera).

In the current season she performs Donna Elvira Don Giovanni for Welsh National Opera and understudies the title role in Vanessa for Glyndebourne.

Ailish Tynan performs at the Ludlow English Song Weekend

Ailish Tynan returns to the Ludlow English Song Weekend with Iain Burnside and violinist Michael Foyle for the opening evening concert of the 2018 festival on Friday 6 April.

The programme includes songs by Frank Bridge, Rebecca Clarke, Benjamin Britten, Herbert Hughes and Gerald Barry.

Wyn Pencarreg makes his debut at the Royal Danish Opera

Wyn Pencarreg steps in at short notice to perform Roc in The Exterminating Angel for the premiere at the Royal Danish Opera. The production is directed by Tom Cairns and conducted by Robert Hossart.

Wyn performed the role of Padre Sansón in this production at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden in 2017. He is also currently performing Alcade in La forza del destino for Welsh National Opera.

Keel Watson performs Dr Bartolo for English National Opera

Keel Watson returns to English National Opera, for the first time since 1999, as Dr Bartolo in Fiona Shaw's production of The Marriage of Figaro, conducted by Martin Brabbins and Matthew Kofi Waldren.

Performances take place from 29 March until 14 April 2018.
