Philip Smith performs in The Barber of Seville

Philip Smith performs the role of Figaro in The Barber of Seville for Iford Arts this summer. The new production is created by Charles Court Opera, directed by John Savournin and conducted by David Eaton.

Performances take place from 21 June to 1 July in the miniature Italianate cloister within The Harold Peto Gardens of Iford Manor.

Claire Wild performs La voix humaine

Claire Wild performs Elle in La voix humaine for the Aldeburgh Festival this summer.

David Pountney's immersive production was first seen Wales Millennium Centre’s Festival of Voice in 2016 and received critical acclaim. It is revived by Mathilde Lopez, with piano accompliment by Christopher Glynn.

The performance takes place on 17 June at the manison owned by one of Elle's friends.

Ailish Tynan joins the Jury at BBC Cardiff Singer of the World

Ailish Tynan joins the jury for the Song Prize at BBC Cardiff Singer of the World 2017. This represents a change on recent competitions where she has appeared as a guest presenter for the for Song Prize Final. 

In 2003, representing Ireland, Ailish won the Rosenblatt Recital Prize at BBC Cardiff Singer of the World which, along with becoming a BBC New Generation Artist, was a catalyst for her recital and recording career.

The concert at the Minster Church of St Andrew in Plymouth, includes songs by George Gerswin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers and Jerome Kern, including With a song in my heart, Can’t help lovin dat man, Ain’t Misbehavin and Let’s do it, Let’s fall in love.

Harry Nicoll performs at The Grange Festival

Harry Nicoll performs in Anfinomo Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria at the inaugural Grange Festival.

The prodcution is directed by Tim Supple, with musical direction by festival artistic director Michael Chance.

Performances take place on 7, 16, 18, 24 June and 2 July. 

Later this season Harry returns to Longborough Festival Opera as Monostatos in The Magic Flute, before appearing with the Royal Opera in Die Zauberflöte.

Gweneth Ann Rand steps in at short notice for Beethoven Symphony No. 9 with the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall on Saturday 6 May.

The concert with the London Philharmonic Choir and soloists, Justina Gringyte, David Butt Philip and Jihoon Kim is conducted by Kazushi Ono.

Keel Watson and Njabulo Madlala in Sukanya for The Royal Opera

Keel Watson and Njabulo Madlala perform King Shaariyati and Aswini Twin in the world premiere of Ravi Shankar's opera, Sukanya.

The production is directed by Suba Das and conducted by David Murphy, with the BBC Singers, in a co-production between The Royal Opera, London Philharmonic Orchestra and Leicester Curve.

Wyn Pencarreg in the UK premiere of The Exterminating Angel

Wyn Pencarreg performs Padre Sansón in The Exterminating Angel at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Tom Cairns directs the production that premiered in Salzburg last year and Thomas Adès conducts the huge ensemble, in this, the UK premiere of his latest opera, inspired by Luis Buñuel’s iconic film.

Performances take place on 24, 27 April and 1, 3, 6, 8 May.

Also for The Royal Opera, from 12 May, he will perform a Flemish Deputy in Don Carlos, in Nicholas Hytner's classic production, conducted by Betrande de Billy.

Philip Smith will perform in a star studded gala concert that is being organised by the musical friends of New Zealand opera star Anna Leese to support husband Stefano Guidi, Anna and their baby Matteo in a time of great need.

Claire Wild performs in Paws & Padlocks

Claire Wild performs Ayesha in Paws & Padlocks a newly commissioned children's opera by Kate Whitely, directed by Harry Fehr and conducted by Christopher Stark.

The production will involve 60 children recruited from local schools, Music Hubs, the Royal Greenwich and Blackheath Halls Youth Choir and elsewhere, with local adults and vocal students from Trinity Laban.

Performances take place at Blackheath Halls on 8 and 9 April.

Katie Grosset performs in world premiere for Scottish Opera

Katie Grosset performs as the mezzo soloist in the world premiere of The 8th Door for Scottish Opera as part of a double bill with Bartók’s Bluebeard's Castle.

The 8th Door is a new work created by Matthew Lenton and Scottish Opera Composer in Residence Lliam Paterson, and conducted by Sian Edwards.

Performances take place from 28 March to 8 April in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Philip Smith performs Der Sprecher in Die Zauberflöte at the Opera di Firenze in a co-production with the Teatro la Fenice. The production is directed by Damiano Michieletto and conducted by Roland Böer.

Performances take place from 23 - 29 March.
